| CRI helps feed, clothe, and house orphans living in desperate conditions. We have no agenda or purpose other than to help in any way we can. To maximize our efforts we help support existing orphanages that we feel can best help the children housed there. We actively seek the cooperation of local authorities and organizations, rather than try to bulldoze our way in. Actually, because of the reputation we have earned so far in certain areas of the former USSR, officials from many other regions have urgently requested our assistance as well. |
| But we can only extend our efforts so far with the limited funds we have available. We have to be extraordinarily diligent to make sure every dollar we spend is stretched as far as it can go. We utilize native coordinators to help us buy what we can locally, as that is far cheaper than trying to ship products overseas. The food we buy comes from local farms and markets and in many cases the fresh fruits and vegetables we provide are the first ever eaten by the orphans we help feed. |
We also try to provide the orphanages we help support with medical supplies and medical assistance for the orphans housed there. It's a tragic situation, but many suffer needlessly because medical help or medications are simply not available. Often a child only requires a simple procedure to correct an existing problem, but even the most routine ones are out of reach for most of these forgotten children.
